say. There are a RAFT of things that can go wrong when using steppers.
The first most likely one is that it isn't wired properly. The symptoms
you describe are exactly what you see when they aren't wired correctly.
The easy fix is to swap the wires on one of the windings, if that is the
problem this swap will fix it. The other problem is insufficient
current usually from too low of a voltage.
