Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

NO! The DB9 connector on the R board has (almost) RS232 levels. You
should use a straight-through cable. Pin 2 on each end connected
together. Same for both pins 3. Same for both pins 5.

HOWEVER, the problem is that the levels are ALMOST RS232. In fact,
they aren't even close. The board will almost always work with a
straight cable to a real RS232 port on the PC. Sometimes it won't
work with USB cables. It depends on the cable. You might try
