This Forum is Dedicated For all The Object Oriented PIC Lovers .......... The concept behind OOPic is straight forward. Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

[oopic] uM-FPU v3.1 Floating Point Co-Processor

Dennis,

That uM-FPU V3.1 you mentioned the other day is certainly worth
considering and not just for GPS sentence parsing.

Compared to the AVRlib soft floating point, this gadget is FAST! That
you can store functions inside the chip to improve performance (like
GPS sentence parsing) is even better.

The ability to use the FTOA command to convert a floating point result
to a string and then use the READSTR command to read the string
character by character makes it possible to display floating point
numbers on an LCD without the OOPic ever having to understand floating
point.

I think I'll order one
(http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8129)
in the near future and see how it works with the OOPic (and some other
uC's).

Richard
