[oopic] Hardware question...

For the OOPic DIP 40 package:

Is that simply a PIC16F877A with Savage's 'firmware' loaded in the
program memory? If so, what is the possibility to read the program
memory (byte for byte) and copy it to a new PIC16F877A. Since no more
old school OOPics are being made, I would like to see if I can make
some for personal use. They may not be the latest technology but they
are so easy to program and I am an old dog and don't prefer to learn
new tricks at this point. I don't usually use OOPic's for robots,
typically light controllers, motor controllers, and data
monitoring/gathering/recording. Nothing that I do requires a whole
lot of computing power and I like the platform. From what I have read
about the OOBug, it is aimed at the robot market rather than the PIC
market (yes, I know there are better ones out there, but again back to
programming).

Thanks,
Bill
