Why should Tim have to eat a problem caused by the manufacturer? Seems
I should hit up Savage. But they are likely to charge me for them, are
they not?

I am beginning to agree. At this point the reason I am trying to stick
with the OOPic is that several of the kids have purchased their own
MarkIII's based on my recommendation.

That is precisely what I am likely to do. OTOH, if I do I will
probably switch to the Propeller. Having 8 independent cores makes
concurrent activity a breeze and very logical for the kids to deal
with. Plus it is a lot cheaper.

But SPIN would not be my first choice for a language. OTOH its grammar
is similar enough to C that there is a pretty good semantic
correspondence.
