This Forum is Dedicated For all The Object Oriented PIC Lovers .......... The concept behind OOPic is straight forward. Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

RE: [oopic] Not a good start

Thanks Dennis. I got the impression that it didn't need it because the
website says: "In order to use the OOPic multi-language compiler with
Windows NT or 2000, an additional file needs to be installed.." The title to
the section mentions XP but the lines below just say NT and 2000. Anyway the
port driver now works but only on my PC. On my laptop however the compiler
can't detect the parallel cable. The port is working and I can print from it
though. Any thoughts? There's no serial port on this laptop. Would I have
any success if I bought a USB-Serial converter ? I'd also need a programming
cable that was serial I suppose.

Have you installed the Port95nt.exe driver? That needs to go in first
before the compiler so that the IDE has access to the parallel port
hardware. This isn't essential for anyone using a serial cable, but it
is essential for those using the parallel port.
