You can't do serial programming on a version less than B.2.0+

Does your laptop have a REAL parallel port at 0x378? Look in device
manager and see what you have. If you don't have the equivalent of an
ISA port (in other words you have some kind of PCI port), it won't work.

All in, it's going to be easier to get a newer chip or have yours
upgraded.
