This Forum is Dedicated For all The Object Oriented PIC Lovers .......... The concept behind OOPic is straight forward. Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

I would recommend using the 40 pin DIP chip with a separate EEPROM.
This is available as the S board
http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/R128-OOPIC-II.html

But you can buy the Mark III OOPic Controller
http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=28 for less money and get a
REAL RS232 level changer as part of the deal. Some assembly required...

With this arrangement, you can also add a sensor board
http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=5 or a prototype board
http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=4

These are ideal for
building 'bots.

You can also yank the OOPic and use a PIC 16F877 preprogrammed with a
boot loader http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=12

The DIP OOPic is available separately
http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=29 as is the EEPROM
http://www.junun.org/MarkIII/Info.jsp?item=15

I have a couple of spare Mark III controllers (one PIC and one OOPic)
and they are quite useful for prototyping.
