[oopic] Soundgin Example Code / Arduino

Hello,

I'm looking for a chip I can use to synthesize tones by sending it
information via a serial connection from an Arduino.

I've got my choices narrowed down to the soundgin chip or the VS1033
(http://www.vlsi.fi/vs1033/vs1033.shtml sending it midi and using a
prebuilt instrument).

Before I decide, I was looking for some example code for the soundgin.
I think I understand the basic theory, but I wanted to see something
applied. I see on another post there is example in the oopic IDE, but
since I'm using Arduino, I don't have it. I filled out the form to
download the trial version, but I haven't gotten a response yet.

So, is there any place I can see some code--any microprocessor is
fine--in order to help me make a decision?

Thanks
