There is not much chance you can get parallel programming to work
without a REAL parallel port.

Personally, I wouldn't go this way but here is a transistor based
level shifter that requires one NPN and one PNP transistor. For the
product, the transistors are in a common package.

The unmarked resistors are 10k and they use the equivalent of a 2N3904
and 2N3906 which you can get at Radio Shack (probably generic equivalent).

I wouldn't do it this way because I would have concerns for damaging
the OOPic.
