I think you are confused. Unless you have a version of the OOPic
prior to 2.0+, you can program the chip with a serial cable. Even a
USB serial cable. What, EXACTLY, do you have? Why do you want to
mess around with a parallel cable? Unless you have an A.xx chip...
If you have the OOPic II+ or the C module, you need to have an RS232
level shifter. See message 36908. Select Message over in the left
frame and enter the number in the search box of the Messages page.
Version 6 runs on XP. There's no big hurry to get to V6 because V5
works fine, even on Win98. I still have a Win98 box with the OOPic
IDE although I confess to using V5 on the XP as my primary environment.
