OOPIC Forum

This Forum is Dedicated For all The Object Oriented PIC Lovers .......... The concept behind OOPic is straight forward. Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

What kind of ooPIC is it? What specifically are the problems. The V.6
compiler works fine on W2K and WXP systems - Vista has not be finished
yet and earlier OS's aren't supported. Can you give us more details?

Thanks for the responses, I am using the parallel cable to program the
oopic. I was successful with uploading a program but I had to use the V5
compiler it looks like it is a problem with the V6 compiler. I went thought
the same setup in both compilers but the version 6 does not work. has any
one else had this problem? or any ideas why this would be?

Try taking a look at the power jumpers. If they are set to the
optional voltage regulator or missing all together you won't receive

[oopic] How can I read an external A2D on the OOPic-R?

Does anyone have any experience attaching an external A2D to the
OOPic? I need some more resolution that the 10-bit on board A2D and
would like to hookup a 12-bit to the OOPic. I just need a little
direction to get started. If I can hook it to the I/O pins how does
the OOPic interpret the digital information? Any help would be a
appreciated, thanks.

Are you having a problem downloading or running the program.

You should alway put OOPic.Delay = 500 as the first executable
statement of every program. Search the archive here for 'cosmic
wedgie' - a very common problem.

Then, turn off the oopic, remove the eeprom, power up the oopic and
try another download. When the dialog box prompts you to reinstall
the eeprom, do so. Just don't get it backwards.

I don't know if the program functions properly but there are many
samples in the oopic subdirectories that do.

We need a LOT more information...

It sounds like you are using the OOPic S with a parallel programming
cable, true?

How exactly did you connect the LED: to which IOLine, to which pin and
what size resistor? The big startup problem with the OOPic S is that
pin number and IOLine aren't related. The IOLine numbers are
silk-screened on the board but aligning that with the pins is an issue.

Have you checked the +5V? It's probably ok but that little voltage
regulator on the S board won't take much abuse.

Did you unplug the programming cable? Sometimes, the cable holds the
chip in reset. That's one of the bad features with the parallel cable
approach. That, and you have to plug into the other I2C connector to
use the debugging features. You really want to buy a serial dongle
and get out of the parallel business. This one is slick:
