OOPIC Forum

This Forum is Dedicated For all The Object Oriented PIC Lovers .......... The concept behind OOPic is straight forward. Use preprogrammed multitasking Objects from a library of highly optimized Objects to do all the work of interacting with the hardware. Then write small scripts in Basic, C, or Java syntax styles to control the Objects. During operation, the Objects run continuously and simultaneously in the background while the scripts run in the foreground telling the objects what to do.

[oopic] Oopic's site down?

I have been having a problem connecting to Oopic.com for the last few
days. Is their site down, or is my ISP 'filtering' what sites I can
visit? I know I'll never get a straight answer from my ISP, so I'm
asking here.
I'm having the same problem connecting to Trossen Robotics forums. Is
there a connection, or am I barmy?

There is not much chance you can get parallel programming to work
without a REAL parallel port.

Personally, I wouldn't go this way but here is a transistor based
level shifter that requires one NPN and one PNP transistor. For the
product, the transistors are in a common package.

The unmarked resistors are 10k and they use the equivalent of a 2N3904
and 2N3906 which you can get at Radio Shack (probably generic equivalent).

I wouldn't do it this way because I would have concerns for damaging
the OOPic.

But unfortunately I don't have RS232 dongle and I couldn't find it
so I have to order it wait for shipping.
I have to find another way to do this. I have only USB ports and a
USBtoSerial Converter (http://www.serialadapter.com/P505155344.jpg).
Can I use a RS232toParallel Converter??

I've got nothing! They came in little plastic bags with MEC on them. I
can't even find MEC's website.

[oopic] Using IR

Hello all,

I have some IR transmitters and receivers (made by MEC) that I'd like
to use for rangefinding.

The problem is that there isn't an object for them. The transmitter is
easy to connect, just like a normal LED. I can check that its on using
my phone camera.

I tried connecting the receiver like the cadmium light cell (oCDS) but
to no avail.

[oopic] you know i got it

Just got my BS and i wasnt even required to turn up! Just called these people
1 415 267-3940, filled out a few forms and a bit of paperwork and was accredited
within 3 weeks at an internationally recognised Uni! How good is that!
